Term: CAT 5 Cable
A cable used for transmitting and receiving data. CAT is an abbreviation for Category and 5 relates to the section of standard 568 created by ANSI (American National Standards Institute) and EIA (Electronic Industries Association) relating to data transmission through "twisted pairs" of wires. The standard defines the ways / protocols used in which information to sent and received data. The maximum throughput for data in a CAT 5 Cable is 100 MHz.
