CAT 6 Cable

Term: CAT 6 Cable

A cable used for transmitting and receiving data. CAT is an abbreviation for Category and 5E relates to the section of standard 568 created by ANSI (American National Standards Institute) and EIA (Electronic Industries Association) relating to data transmission through "twisted pairs" of wires.

The standard defines the ways / protocols used in which information to sent and received data. The maximum throughput for data in a CAT 6 Cable is 250 MHz.

Because of the enhanced throughput and the tendency to need to transfer larger and larger files, this type of cable is the minimum choice for data centers or offices that want to allow for future growth.
