An Internet service provider that requires the user to call a phone number every time they want to access the Internet. A computer can be programmed to call this number automatically.
 
With the advent of lower cost fast internet service that is always live (e.g. Cable, DSL or FIOS) there are far fewer individuals who use dial up in order to access the internet.
