Term: HTML Forms (Hyper Text Markup Language)
An HTML form is a page which captures or acquires data from the individual who is using the web browser. HTML stands for Hyper Text Markup Language, which is what the browser users to build the page "look & feel". A web form can be used for many different purposes. Perhaps the most common HTML form is a contact form. This would gather contact information and provide a way for the web user to request information, provide comments or request services. Web forms can be written using a variety of different programming languages, such as PHP, or ASP.NET or Websphere There are many, many simple forms. However, visionary organizations realize that there is a tremendous potential to cut their administrative costs by having the web user enter information in a web form and then store the same information in a database which can be imported into in-house applications. Such an approach can improve the accuracy of the data and result in the data being processed much faster than having to wait for a piece of paper to be mailed and then entered manually.
