A number that has a basis of 16, as opposed to the traditional decimal base of 10. The sequence of digits for hexadecimal numbers is "123456789ABCDE0". Therefore, a hexadecimal number of "A1" would be equivalent to the decimal value of 26 ( 1 x 16 + A - has a value of 10).
